The Helambu Valley Cultural Trek is a low altitude short trek that revolves around the revered Helambu region. This trek also explores the mesmerizing Shivapuri National Park and makes stops at prominent tourist spots like Sundarijal, Chisapani, and Kakani. It is a magnificent mix of natural beauty and cultural authenticity as it introduces the lifestyle of the Hyolmo ethnic group. This Helambu valley cultural trek also explores the valleys around the Melamchi River and offers you an escape from a monotonous life.
The Helambu valley cultural trek starts from Sundarijal and ends in Kakani. The trek is 9 days long including your arrival and departure. You will be greeted and shifted to a hotel by our representative from Tribhuvan International Airport. The very next day, you will drive to Sundarijal and start your trek to Chisapani. The trek goes through the amazing Shivapuri National Park and along the way, you’ll be blessed with lush forested trails and a picture of Langtang and Gaurishankar ranges. Chisapani is also famous as an excellent vantage point to enjoy the panorama of Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Jugal Himal ranges. Exiting Chisapani, you climb numerous stone steps to reach Jhogin Danda and arrive at Kutumsang. The road now takes us to Thadepati passing Pangu village and Mere Danda en route. Then, you head to Melamchi Gaon which is inhabited by Sherpa people who have descended from Tibet. You can spend some time interacting with the locals here. Next, passing the Melamchi River, you head to Tarkeghyang which is home to Hyolmo people. You’ll then head downwards to Sermathang by passing through Ghangyul village. Don’t forget to visit the ancient gompa at Chumik before heading out to Kakani. The road to Kakani is quick and discreet. From Kakani, you drive back to Kathmandu and take your scheduled flight back home. Autumn and Spring have nice and clear weather which serve as the best time for the trek.
